Barbara's Backstory

When I celebrated my 60th birthday, many people opined that I retire from having new desires and rest easy. I, on the other hand, did not agree with this. I think with age and experience you gain the power to visualize life in a different light, quite different from how you stereotyped it in your youth. You see life with empathy and explore its many facets anew. At least that is what I believe!

My body may be 60 and showing signs of age with a few wrinkles here and there on the face, a handful of grey locks peeping out my crown, and sagging skin making its appearance from the ends of my side slit top, but my soul is as young as a kid who wants to fly kites and run through the meadows in a summer afternoon. With this enthusiasm, I bring to you my blog that celebrates life, especially through food. You see, I have been a nutritionist by profession, until recently, and have been baking for more than 3 decades. Hence, the love for food and the urge to educate people on the nutritional value of different dishes motivates me to run this blog.

I talk all things delicious and healthy, not necessarily just recipes. I see food beyond its glaze and go deeper into its raw form – sugar, flour, turmeric, cinnamon, and all the other wholesome elements that make a dish finger-licking yummy and pack it with the goodness of vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, among other nutritious substances. I wonder if you see it the same way as I do. Nonetheless, I would love to give you a tour of my world. Who knows, this could just be the beginning of some meaningful conversations between you and me.
